Position:
Role Players – Pashto/Dari
Location(s):
48 contiguous states, the District Of Columbia, Hawaii, Alaska, and all United States territory including Guantanamo Bay, as well as OCONUS locations.
Job Description:
- Facilitate realistic training in preparation for real-world events and scenarios the unit will likely
encounter during contingency operations.
- Facilitate the creation of a cultural environment, emulate the physical interaction between host nation populations, and provide the linguistic services necessary to the realism of the training scenario.
- Translate scenario elements into the SCRL, act as SCRL/English linguists for exercise participants, and/or act as the SCRL-training-focus-area insurgent/terrorist detainees to provide cultural context and linguistic realism to the training environment and scenarios.
- Assist with the development of pertinent training materials and provide basic language (survival) and cultural guidance throughout the period of performance.
Required Experience:
- Perform research activities utilizing numerous databases such as NGA’s Voyager, PMAA/GRTools, SAP, PMT, RAS, catalogue systems like Defense Logistics Agency’s: WEBREQ, Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) catalog, DNI’s Open Source Center as well as the Map Services Center (MSC) catalog, Harmony Database, Library of Congress (LOC) catalogs, GIDI/GIFD, M3, GNDB, NES, and so forth as well as geospatial and imagery software systems like ARC GIS/ARC View, ERDAS Imagine, MAPINFO, FOXPRO, or REMOTE VIEW
- Knowledgeable NGA used classified research databases, to include M3, CIRAS, INTELINK WEBSAFE, and Harmony Database

Experience with combining digital cartography, computer technology, GIS, cartographic and geospatial production techniques, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and digital data formats

Experience with Disseminating both preliminary and finished regional analysis intelligence products that contribute to solving questions about the availability and relevancy of geospatial data needed to support analysis products related to crisis operations, impacting the military, intelligence and policy-making communities

Participate and assist in role-play exercises on a part-time/on-call basis to provide a realistic simulation of the host nation environment prior to actual deployment so that personnel become familiar with, and are able to appropriately and decisively react to a variety of situations requiring interactions with a host nation’s population, military organizations, local businesses, religious leaders, and/or government officials.
Required Experience:
A working proficiency in English (ILR Level 2+) and a native level of proficiency in the target
Language.
- Comprehend both the target language and source languages as spoken and written.
- Able to choose an expression in the target language that fully conveys and best matches the meaning of the source language.
- Have familiarity with the cultural context of both languages.
- Have knowledge of terminology in specialized fields.
- Able to observe protocols applicable to different settings and master the modes applicable to those settings.
Citizenship: US Citizenship / US Permanent Residency required based upon position.
Clearance: Will vary based upon position.
